At the 2022 Reconnection Summit, organised to co-design hyper-local policies with community groups from across the country. The aim was to address the root causes and effects of poverty.

My journey has been one of problem-solving, establishing connections and bringing people together around a common purpose.

For the past seven years I’ve been running communications and engagement strategies for a diverse range of organisations – from small local businesses to international corporations, charities, social causes and political campaigns.

My passion for social change led me to the charity Engage Britain, where I spent three years working to involve the public in policymaking. We brought together people from across the UK with first-hand experiences of health and care, creating a platform for them to debate and create the changes they wanted to see. This experience was transformative for all involved. I saw the potential for practical solutions created by the people who live and understand the issues best, and I saw the political obstacles that stood in the way.

Born in London to a British-Egyptian father and Danish mother, I was fortunate to grow up in Tunbridge Wells and attend The Skinners’ School. I was accepted into Heythrop College, at the University of London, where I graduated in Philosophy and developed my longstanding interest in social justice. My wife and I moved back to Kent last year to find our first family home. Sadly we were priced out of Tunbridge Wells, but we’re now living happily in nearby Edenbridge.

Most recently I have been actively campaigning with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign to demand a full ceasefire in Gaza and that the UK stop selling arms to Israel, as supported by the majority of the public. These are the first steps required towards finding a political solution in the region based on human rights, dignity and self-determination for all. I’m deeply concerned about how our government and opposition have not only been deaf to the majority opinion in the UK, but are also willing to put the UK at risk of complicity in genocide.

Throughout my career, I've connected with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. What I've learned, most of all, is that we have far more in common than that which divides us. Often, all it takes is a chance for a meaningful conversation — a genuine effort to not just listen, but to truly hear where someone is coming from.

My campaign is centred around this belief. I want to create initiatives like local citizens' assemblies to make sure your voice is heard in Parliament. I want to support community hubs that use valuable local insight to coordinate real solutions to local issues and guide people in need.

Together we can create a better politics, one that listens and works towards the needs and values of people and communities. Let's start by making Tunbridge Wells a place where every voice counts.

Your Voice in Parliament

What do I mean when I say ‘your voice in parliament’? You will be given the opportunity to engage in the political decisions that affect your life and local community, and as your MP I will share your ideas and solutions directly in Westminster.

To make this happen I will start local citizens’ assemblies made up of people broadly representative of the local area, chosen by lottery, who are then tasked to come together to share their concerns and ideas, and democratically agree on the changes they want to see.

A Democratic Approach

Learn About Our Campaign

Tunbridge Wells MP Candidate for the 2024 General Election

As a proud Brit who believes strongly in our democratic traditions, I'm deeply frustrated by how our politics is letting us down. People are struggling to make ends meet, communities and businesses lack support, and our country lacks a unifying vision.

Our politics is simply not working, and our government has failed to work in the public interest. They’ve overseen a housing crisis and directly contributed to rising inequality, a struggling NHS and broken social care, ineffective climate policies, and a world made less safe by conflicts abroad. The British public has been treated with contempt, and a huge gap of mistrust has opened up between our elected politicians and UK citizens. Faith in our politics can only be restored when the British public is properly valued as a vital part of our democracy
